I’m 23 years old. So you can say that it’s been a little around 22 years that I’ve NEVER worked out in my entire life. Yes, that’s darn surprising. Six months back, I started my journey to fitness. That took a lot of courage and willpower. I decided to join a gym. I brought in my new gym membership. I was pretty thrilled and nervous about this whole thing. On day 1, after my workouts, I felt so good to get that sweat out but I was super tired and I could feel myself getting exhausted from walking on the treadmill lol. I wanted to continue this but little did I know how to stay motivated.

The same day, I decided to visit a retail which was right opposite to my gym. I bought a pair of active wear to keep myself motivated. Initially, I would go the gym 4 times a week. That always fluctuated. I worked back then full time and I had to balance out everything. It was quite exhausting, trust me. Taking into consideration, my work was 1 hour 30 minutes commute from my place and the gym was another 10 minutes away. So you can imagine my will power!!! Pretty awesome, right?
Although I went to the gym, I paid very less attention to my diet. My mindset was something like this, “oh, I’m quite active at the gym. I think workouts should compensate for whatever I eat.” With that being said, I would eat anything and everything. Sometimes, I would feel like shit. I would wonder,” Why the hell am I not getting a flat belly?”
Now things took a different turn after quarantine. I started taking care of my health. What brought in the motivation you ask? Well, I got you covered as always. Read along and you’ll know how. Mind you, it has worked amazingly on me. No kidding.
The following are some tips that I’ve been following till date:
Tip #1
Well. I started investing a lot of my time, watching TEDx videos, listening to motivational podcasts on Spotify. Due to which I also came across some awesome health influencers on Instagram. I started accepting fitness/health challenges like #waterchugchallege, #getstrongchallenge and many more. You get the drill right? Surrounding yourself with fresh and inspirational content can help you massively to achieve your goals. This goes in for professionalism and career as well. Feed your brain with good things and it will start showing results by being happy from within and just pushing yourself.
Tip #2
I think its very important to feel motivated not just by influencers. Friends and family impact us in our decision making as well. Talking to them about what you’re doing in regards to health/fitness, boosts your own self confidence. Trust me, I spend hours talking to my Mom and dad about my routines and to be honest, they have started implementing my tricks in their own life as well. It’s all the results of me rambling everyday for hours about my progress. So it’s a win-win!!
Tip #3
I reckon eating the right food plays a terrific role on your fitness and health. Eating junk can defeat the entire purpose of working out. And that’s what happened to me. I worked out putting in hours at the gym but at the end of it, I began eating all that I shouldn’t have. However, it’s never too late to change certain habits. Start now and your body will reward you for sure. Download apps if that helps for reminders and calorie count. Again this is another article I will be covering shortly. So keep an eye for that. By doing this, I have also started cutting down on food that did not add value to my body or did not support me with my goals. It was like a “calling”.
Tip #4
Workout lol. You will not see results if you’re not putting in those efforts every single day. Although it’s quarantine, almost everyone has no access to gym and equipment’s and that’s okay. I don’t either. I have 0 equipment’s at home except for an old mat that I use as a Yoga mat. If you have the determination, anywhere you go can become your own playground. All I do is wake up every morning and I tell this to myself - New day, New Possibilities. Trust me, I say this everyday as soon as I open my eyes.
Talking about meals and what I eat, here’s what my typical meal looks like….
Breakfast: Oatmeal or smoothies
Lunch: Salad or Pasta or a Bowl of Dahl with bread
Dinner: Super bowls or healthy wraps
It just depends on how I feel. I mix it up. Mind you, all the recipes mentioned are created and experimented by myself (I had a lot of spare time you see). I’ll be writing on all the twists added to these recipes. So you can try them out as well and make a boring meal fun and healthy.
Bonus tip: Don’t stop. You did not come this far to only come this far, isn’t it? We all feel like giving up at some point but as I always say – Stick around to see the results.
As a final note, I would say - Be stubborn about your goals and flexible about your methods. Hope this brings in a tad bit of motivation. I know you got this.
Don’t forget to share my article with your friends and family to motivate them if you care for their well being. Show some love ya’all muchachos and follow me on Instagram!!!
Until next time
- Lots of kisses from your lovely la juillet.
